Slovak Citizenship by Descent

In collaboration with Zip-Citizenship, a consultancy firm operated by my wife, we help people to obtain Slovak citizenship by descent. Attorneys get involved whenever clients need or prefer an attorney, not just a consultant. Unlike consultants, attorneys are strictly regulated, always insured, and qualified to represent before authorities.

Slovak Citizenship by Descent (Citizenship by Ancestry)

If you have Slovak or Czechoslovak ancestors, you may be eligible for Slovak citizenship by descent — and be able to obtain a Slovak and EU passport without relocating to Slovakia. Slovakia allows descendants of former Slovak citizens to reclaim citizenship through ancestry, even if they were born abroad or already hold another nationality.

Who Can Apply for Slovak Citizenship by Descent?

Slovak citizenship by ancestry is available to individuals who can prove direct lineage to a Slovak or former Czechoslovak citizen. To qualify, applicants typically need to prove:

  • Direct bloodline to a Slovak or Czechoslovak citizen
  • Official documentation, such as birth or marriage certificates
  • No serious criminal record
  • No obligation to permanently relocate to Slovakia (in many cases)

Obtaining Slovak citizenship grants the full rights of an EU citizen, including freedom to live, work, study and do business anywhere in the European Union and the Schengen Area.

Why Apply for Slovak or EU Citizenship?

  • EU passport with visa-free travel to 180+ countries
  • Right to live, work, study or retire in any EU / EEA country
  • Ability to pass EU citizenship to future generations
  • No loss of existing citizenship in most cases (Slovakia permits dual nationality in descent cases)
